For my site visits, I met with Professor Alie, with my classmate Chaya. For my first site visit, I presented a patient with lower back pain and 5 pharm cards. For my second site visit, I presented 2 H&P’s, 5 pharm cards, and an article. I presented one H&P of a patient with chest pain, SOB, and palpitations, and another H&P of a patient with pain and parasthesias in his hands and feet, as well as generalized fatigue. The article I presented actually related to and compared 2 of my patients, as well as a conversation I had with my preceptor. Since one of the patients I presented was on triple therapy for hyperlipidemia including a statin and omega-3, while the other patient I presented was on monotherapy for hyperlipidemia with just a statin, I presented an article comparing the efficacy of combination therapy vs monotherapy. Professor Alie was very helpful in his comments and in his suggestions of what other differentials I could add. I also enjoyed hearing Chaya’s H&P’s and what she did for the patients. Overall, I had very pleasant site visits.
